Everyone has their own inside jokes, the kind of jokes you had to be there in order to get it. "Get There" was no different, but now we want to bring everyone in on what it has become for us. It all started on an unforgettable road trip across half of the US. We hit many speed bumps along the trip, creating difficulties to make it to all the stops we crammed into a short amount of time. All along the way, one theme remained constant, we just had to get there.  

Not long after that trip, we started noticing our joke that was used to pass the time in the car was now starting to appear in our everyday life. Not only were we still saying it, we were hearing it all around us. Get There was starting to become symbolic with accomplishing goals, no matter how big they were. Whether you are trying to finish school, get a promotion at work, lose weight, etc., The one thing in common is you have a goal you want to get to and all the steps you take along the way are what's going to help you Get There.  

Now "Get There" is taking on another meaning. In November of 2022, our family started the long journey of evaluations and therapies to what led to a diagnosis of Autism for our 3, almost 4 year old son. In October 2023, we received our diagnosis and were immediately overwhelmed. What did this mean for us and for our son? After doing some research we found that having a service dog could help with compression therapy and overall sensory therapy for him. This research also led us to realizing that service dogs are quite the financial commitment. We empathize with the families and individuals who cannot take advantage of this potential life altering solution simply because they can’t afford it.

So our goal is to raise funds to help other individuals and families like ours adopt and train their own service dog. Not just those impacted by autism but anyone who needs a service dog no matter the diagnosis. We don't want other families to have to stress and struggle like we did when our lives changed.
